What is Sikh Swim?
Sikhswim is my Sikh-related website. It's a collection of writings, videos, and other things that are relevant to the Sikh American experience. It's curated by me -- Savraj Singh. It's my honor and pleasure to meet you and welcome you to Sikhswim. So who am I? I am a Sikh-awareness speaker and representative for the following Sikh organizations, since 1999:
- The World Sikh Council
- The Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund (SALDEF)
- The Sikh Coalition
- The United States Department of Justice Community Relations Service
I'm also the Sikh Religious Life Leader at The Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and I am on Princeton University's Alumni Advisory Council for the Office of Religious Life. I've attended and organized retreats and conferences (most notably, the Seattle Sikh Retreat), and I have been a camp counselor at a wide array of Sikh Youth Camps across North America.
I graduated from Princeton University with a bachelors degree in computer science. Sikh Awareness and Sikhism is one of my hobbies -- it's my honor to share it with you, and I'd like to learn about you and your background as well. Please explore the site and let me know your feedback! You can catch me on Twitter @sikhswim.
Rude Q&A:
1) Do Sikhs intend to take over the world? NO. Sikhs do not proselytize or seek converts. If one wants to become a Sikh, however, they can.
2) Do Sikhs have an exclusive claim on the divine? NO. Sikhs treat everyone with love and respect and do not make an exclusive claim on anything. We think we have a path, that's it. If you think you have a path, follow it and excel at it.
3) Do Sikhs have a creation story? NO. Sikhs believe in science as an attempt to understand the divine. The end.
4) Please suggest more questions by emailing me at [email protected].
